busy busy busy

I was really quite busy the last view weeks but lucky for ya'll i'll show you what i was up to. And really! it was quite a lot happening in this small town called vienna.

To start with, did i ever tell you about my great Friend Hanna Palme? She is an amazing Singer/Songwriter. She had a concert at the Shelter.

There was a drunk guy lying on stage. chilling with him for a bit :)

A view days later Fashion Designer LENA HOSCHEK invited me to the opening of her new "Atelier" - more a house!
Great location made with sooo much detail and love. Really liked the event and the new collection for Spring/Summer.
I was there with my friend Nina Geschl designer at "Prinzessin auf der Erbse"
Christoph Rumpf from "The Glass Punk"
Thomas Kirchgrabner designer at "Liska"

300! This is Sparta!

YAY! this is my 300 post! I know not really a lot for the amont of time i had this Blog(2005 haha)
But i am getting better and better at it, just look at how many posts i´ve written this last month ;) hehe

Anyhow, i had a lovely time the last two days with a very dear friend of mine, i have to ask her if i am allowed to publicly notice her on my Blog. So for now i wont do it.

She had to get some books for a piece of work she had to write for Uni. So it was of to Thalia for us
(and H&M after ;) i know i know!)

While she was looking around not fining what she was looking for  i was zipping my yummy yummy Oreo-shake and came about the "fantasy/sci-fi" section.

And i thought to my self "WTF"? (what song is this line from?)

Starting with my absolut hero of the fantasy section :) "ALIEN TAGO"
Look at this great cover - a crossover of Superman and Mila Jovovich in Resident Evil (with chucks on)

Dracula having SM sex with Kate Beckinsale?? Van Helsing Biiaaatch -ups its a Bestseller

So many colors!!!!!!                      Robin Hobb??? Fo Rizzle manizzle?

Now this was kinda a disapointment for me to see, cause the "Simarillion" by J.R.R. Tolkien (Lord of the rings... duh!) is actually a good book! - hey wait a second, maybe the others are to, dont judge a book by its ....what? i buy books by the looks haha.

!!BO!!!
What ever are these books doing in this section.

Emma -my only moment was Harry potter and the Burberry campagne- Watson
in "I want to be tinkerbell" by Tim Burton

and

Olivia -i had my big moment on leather car seats with john travolta and now i'm a dinosaur- Newton John
in "I love country music" by Dolly Parton (alias her unofficial sister)

(my friend thought she lost one of her titts! baahaha! sorry -not- funny, breast-cancer is not funny!)

So after all this bliss and fun it was of to the "phil" for a hot chocolate and talking about film, trying to convince my darling to start a film blog, cause i think there aren't really that many around are there?

and i think we had a two hour discussion about various films/directors/actors. Joana(ups i said her name) is THA SHIAT when it comes to leading a discussion ;)

Cornel Bolt

So during Paris fashion week this last season i came across the swiss fashion designer
CORNEL BOLT // Cornel Bolt on facebook

Such a nice(and pretty) guy to meet and talk to.
It was really funny cause we started the conversation out in english to the point were he asked me where i was from and i was like "from Vienna" - oh so we can talk german.
really funny how ones realizes that German is not such a bo bo language but actually a lot of people
speak it.

Anyhow, i was really impressed by his designs! especially by the colors, a somehow mint green and plum.
But please! check out the amazing armlets he made! really nice! His cloths are the kind of style i would love to wear every day, i should really start to do so and make more of my own garments to wear - buy fabric not clothes- speaking of which! His materials were so nice! Kinda like a cotton cord material with open ends seamed on the inside with a very tight woven cotton.

but no more words. here are some of my favorite looks

DIAGONALE 2012 part 2

I never mentioned who i was with at the festival :)
My close friend and great actress Claudia Kainberger(her Blog) was so kind to let me and filmmaker Anna Spannlang (her Blog) crash on her couch for the 3 days.
Also in town was Bernd Oppl, he actually showed his short experimental Film "Hotel Room"

Speaking of Anna and Bernd, we went out one night to the Papierfabrik in graz (hot new place to be we were told). It was more some older hippie guy playing his 60s records and Motown favorites. Which is not so bad but actually everyone just wanted to shake their booty to electronic music ;)
Somehow we stayed until 4:30 though i think.
On the way home Bernd had a great idea - due to the fact that i was thursday evening (WE KNOW! actually friday morning duh!)- he came out and told us that he was .... watching Germanys next Topmodel!! We were shocked! but decided to crash with him in his great "Hotel Room" - HA!

The next morning we snuck into the lobby and had a great yummy breakfast! Thanks Bernd and Diagonale :)

Berndi and Anna(why didn't i take any pics of Anna at all?) breakfast talk :)

So but now we should focus on why i was actually at the Diagonale :)
Frist Film of the day was the opening Film of the Festival SPANIEN by Anja Salomonowitz.

Conned by smugglers, Moldavian Sava finds himself stranded in Austria. Hundreds of kilometers away from his desired destination, he meets a woman named Magdalena in a church. She is also estranged – from herself and from her ex-husband who desperately longs to be by her side again.

And then there's Gabriel, who by chance and misfortune holds the reins to a tightly knit web of relationships. A film about the search for one destination that might be worth reaching.

Then everything got a bit tricky, like it always is i wanted to see 2 or more movies at the same time.
In this case it was:
KUMA by Umut Dàng
DONAUSPITAL by Nikolas Geyrhalter
STOFF DER HEIMAT by Othmar Schmiderer
and
Experimentalfilmprogramm 4
Bernd(in se middle) and two other film makers haha

Ended up watching the Experimental films. Because Bernd was Showin his film there.
If that wouldn't have been the case i would have watched KUMA probably.

At the end of the day it was really nice to watch a Film that just makes you laugh. And really! i am no comedy guy normally but "WIE MAN LEBEN SOLL" by David Schalko is just to funny!
So great! :)

Talk with David Schalko after his movie(a little bit of a drunk haha, but it was late)

Taboo is a radical story about forbidden love. Georg Trakl pays homage to a historically unproven affair with his sister in his poems. In Vienna, they indulge in their illicit intimacy. Georg, however, increasingly succumbs to societal pressure, and with it falls into drug use.

This drives Grete into the arms of her music teacher, but she will not give in to this fate so easily. In the end, it is a question of existing together or not at all.

Diagonale Part 3 - soon to come :)

ANNABANANA  and  BERNDI

DIAGONALE 2012 part 1

"Spät aber doch"
here now comes my review of the Diagonale 2012 in Graz.
A festival for Austrian Film.

First of all i have to say, i've been coming to this Festival three years in a row and wow! a big thank you to the city Graz! everywhere you go you see Diagonale posters/flags/etc... you really get the vibe that the city is in festival mood! Really nice to see how everyone is taking part in the citys activities(none like others).

But lets cut the mush. I was able to attend the festival for only three days this year which was such a shame but i got a great piece of the cake!
Unlike the last time i watched quite a lot documentary films this year.
Somehow we got the feeling that there was quite a focus on "Sexual" topics.

Starting our first day with the documentary "Whores Glory"by Michael Glawogger at 11 a.m. was quite a rough start of but the pictures was amazing.

our friend Gucki managing tha press ;)

And at this point i have to say that the soundtrack is really great! But one should think about it if using music by Coco rosie, Bunny lake or Damien rice is really a good idea. in the sense of commercializing the topic a bit to much maybe. just a thought.

And on it went with Movie "Outing" by Sebastian Meise and Thomas Reider
To this picture - there were several moments i wanted to stand up and leave the room. Such a very hard topic especially if you have a good relationship to children. But i sat it through because i thought i really had to confront myself with this and also hear different perspectives.
The Cinema hall was packed with people, as the lights went on after the movie there were about half of the people left. I will be sure to make a extra post about this documentary picture. There is more to say.
http://outing-derfilm.at/

best part of this years festival - the opening of the new IKU restaurant :) 7,20€ all you can eat austrian buffet!!!! #totesamaze!

The first day closed with the Film "Stillleben" by Sebastian Meise (< boy you like these topics dont you)

Bernhard catches his father visiting a brothel.
The prostitute is supposed to pretend to be Lydia as a child, Bernhard's now adult sister. All at once the hidden obsession of a lifetime comes to light, exposing a web of family deceit.
Did the father ever act on his fantasies? In an overwhelming silence, the protagonists pose the question of guilt. A film which defies the trivial portrayal of a social taboo. A bold feature film debut.

Weekend in Wels

It was home sweet home for me this weekend cause my Dad was celebrating his Birthday!
YAY for him :)
Was a great time though, on Sunday morning we went to the Moviemento in Linz.
Morning? -yes! they had a so called movie-brunch there. It was really great! fresh organic orange juice, tomato soup, bacon, salad, croissants, cheese and hot koko :)

We went and saw the movie "The best exotic Marigold Hotel"
At first i had never heard of the movie before but as i read the plot and saw the cast of the film
(Bill Nighy, Judi Dench, Dev Patel, Maggie Smith, Dev Patel, Tom Wilkinson and Penelope Wilton)
i was really looking forward to it!

And what is better after a movie then A BIG FAT BIRTHDAY CAKE!!

So, but for me its back Home to Vienna for now, the new Interview Issue accompanies me along the way.

Paul DeFlorian

So theres this guy i know called Paul.
I know him from these events in Vienna where you gather around pieces of art and talk about it all the time while you are actually there to drink cheap read wine and get wasted. And from the social network of course.

But actually Paul DeFlorian works as painter/performance artist.
His Artworks are, in my opinion,
working on subjects due to draw out fantasies/wishes/imaginations that lie hidden and should actually stay there.
Confronting the viewer with themes you cant really turn from, but you want to.
Born in Linz Paul is one of the the best upper austrian artists at present.
When i look at Pauls work i feel warmth, pain, honesty and purity.
Paul currently lives in Berlin and Vienna.

This here would be my fave, loving the colors and the images. telling a story.
Paul DeFlorian togehter with Urs Buchart

Is there something/someone that you think of when you paint?

"Yes, i'm thinking of resolving structure without negating the structures themselves - Dismantling
Freeing the art of painting and the mind through long time traditions and resolving boundaries."
